During my finance classes at Muhlenberg, I have analyzed several different businesses in various capacities. In the class “Current Topics in Financial Markets: Investment Strategics,” I researched and analyzed various businesses to assess the company’s performance and how this affected the strength of my investments in the companies. Learning different tactics about how to assess the anticipated performance of a stock before fully investing is beneficial because it will help me make better decisions when investing. I had little knowledge of useful investment strategies before this course, so these learned skills were critical to enhancing my business analysis skills.
As a class, we also looked at many different securities, including value stocks, dividend stocks, and junk bonds, among others. From there, each individual picked their own investments that aligned with this criteria to form their own analysis that was put into a class spreadsheet to make a portfolio. The portfolio allowed the class to demonstrate their learned investment strategies by seeing who obtained the highest returns and experienced the most losses over the semester, based on their investment choice in their selected company. I have attached relevant course materials relating to my business analysis skills.
